CES 2013: Canon’s New PowerShot N is an Adorable, Pocket-Sized Point-and-Shoot

CanonPowerShotN_2xI’m not sure what it is about cameras, but I love them. It’s quite odd actually, since I’ve never been much of a photographer. So it comes as no surprise to me that one of the first gadgets of CES 2013 to catch my eye is Canon’s new PowerShot N. Is this not the cutest little camera you’ve ever seen? The PowerShot N is nearly all lens on the front, while the back is dominated entirely by a 2.8-inch touchscreen that tilts up 90 degrees. In fact, as far as I can tell from the press photos, there are no physical buttons on the PowerShot N, save for the power switch on the left side, so I’m assuming the shutter and zoom buttons will be on-screen. The camera is also packing WiFi, and a new “Mobile Device Connect” feature that allows you to instantly send photos to your iOS, Android, or Windows smartphone.

Optically, we’re looking at a 12.1 megapixel sensor and 24mm wide-angle lens with 8x optical zoom. You’ll have to use microSD cards for storage – I guess it’s too small to support full-sized SD cards. The PowerShot N will be available in April 2013, in either black or white, for just $299.
