We had the chance to go hands-on with the Macbook Pro with Retina Display, and it is a truly stunning device. We tested the base model — priced at $2199 — which comes with a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz), Nvidia GeForce GT 650M graphics, 8GB DDR3L SDRAM, and 256GB of flash storage. This Macbook Pro is a definite specs monster, but its defining factor is the breathtaking 15.4-inch 2880 x 1800 display, with a ppi of 220. Reading on a Macbook Pro with Retina Display is like viewing text on high-gloss paper. Photos are immaculate, and updated apps like Aperture and Final Cut Pro truly take advantage of the display.
The Macbook Pro with Retina Display comes with Bluetooth 4.0, two Thunderbolt ports, two USB 3 ports, HDMI port, SDXC card slot, Magsafe 2 power port, dual microphones, and very crisp custom stereo speakers. It’s safe to say there is nothing on the market that compares to this Macbook Pro.
