Instagram for Android Now Available on Google Play

Long an iPhone exclusive, Instagram has finally launched their much anticipated Android app today. Instagram has been teasing their Android app for some time – at SXSW they even went so far as to say “in some ways, it’s better than our iPhone app” – and today the company has delivered.

Instagram says users can expect to find all the same filters and community features they love from the iOS app in the Android app, just in a slightly redesigned package. The start up has clearly been working hard on building an interface that will feel at home on Android phones.

The company noted that 430,000 eager Android users signed up on the “Android Waiting List” page they launched a few weeks ago. Those users must be pretty happy today!

Instagram for Android is now available as a free download on Google Play for phones running Android 2.2 or later.
